Handelsbanken selects 1000 Lakeside North Harbour

1 April 2008

Highcross has let 2,100 sq ft of office space at its landmark 1000 Lakeside North Harbour building in Portsmouth to Swedish bank, Handelsbanken.

This new branch, which is Handelsbanken’s 37th as it expands across the UK, will provide a full range of banking services to businesses and high net-worth customers.

Branch Manager, Paul Mlinar, says: “With the business dynamic of Portsmouth increasingly shifting to the M27 corridor, Lakeside is undoubtedly in one of the best locations outside the city centre. In addition, we were very impressed by the building itself, the level of services, which will soon include a cafeteria, and the parking facilities. This is why, with the long-term in mind, we have taken a 10-year lease.”

Nick Turner of Highcross comments: “We are delighted to be announcing the arrival of our first occupier at 1000 Lakeside. With office suites from 2,000 – 72,000 sq ft, the development is able to meet the requirements of businesses of all sizes, which are looking for high quality office space in an excellent location.”

Highcross recently completed a £13.8 million refurbishment of 1000 Lakeside, including the construction of a new full height glazed atrium. Regus has also taken 18,500 sq ft for its business centre, which will open in June.
Joint agents for 1000 Lakeside are Knight Frank and Vail Williams. Ross Moyler of Vail Williams commented: “This letting shows that high quality offices such as Lakeside, and the Portsmouth economy, are strong enough to attract new occupiers from the banking sector into the city.”
