Highcross starts work on site at Lakeside North Harbour
Work is now underway on the first phase of Highcross’ major expansion of its Lakeside North Harbour business park in Portsmouth.
Highway contractors, Colas, have started construction of the new access road at the eastern edge of the 100-acre Lakeside site. The new entrance, off Western Road, will form the first section of the new Lakeshore Drive and provide access to the car dealership also planned for the development’s first phase.
Jason Kindlon, Highcross’ project manager for the Lakeside North Harbour development, says the construction of the new access road is an exciting milestone: “The new entrance marks the first stage of our plans to expand the existing office complex into a major business park. As well as providing access to a new car dealership located at the eastern end of the site, the new road will form the first part of our new Lakeshore Drive, which will serve the planned new office buildings sited along the lake, as well as the hotel and other facilities proposed for the scheme.”
Currently home to Highcross’ 1000 Lakeside office building and IBM’s UK headquarters, the phased development of the Lakeside North Harbour business park will include new office buildings, a 70,000 sq ft hotel and conference centre and facilities for businesses located at the scheme, ranging from small shops and restaurants to a new medical centre.
